AMEX have waived the fee 3 of the past five years for me. I simply pointed out to them that I charge over $75,000 a year to the card (mostly work related) and that 3% of that is more than $135 and they agreed. The other two times it was not waived was b/c I didn't feel like being too greedy. Good Luck.
Interesting idea. I did 42k last year, and my renewal is coming up soon. 42kx3%... 1260, less 135. I think they can afford to waive it for me too.
It's worth a try anyway
