I have only once had this problem on DL. I can't remember where it was as it was a long time ago. What I do remember is that I asked another airlines if they could call over to someone at DL in the back and see if they could get them to come outfront.

They had no luck, so I went to a pay phone and called DL res. Someone then came to the desk and opened up. They were not overly pleased with me, but all went well. I was not about to enquire whey they were not open.

If the airlines tell you to get there three hours before the flight, then they should be open 3 hours before the flight or refund to me my hourly charge in order to compensate for my work income loss. (It is time to end the overly one sided contract of carrage. PAX have to agree to all kinds of things yet the airlines continue to do as they see fit to us.)
