I have a 22" SwissArmy Victorinox roller. The manufacturer says it's 22x14x10. When I measured it (and included the wheels - how can you not!!!) the measurements are 24x15x10. Surprisingly, the bag passes the test at some NW and Virgin gates where they make you fit the bag in the wire frame... The bag fits lenghtwise in FC but only further back (not over row 1 on 737-300 and sometimes row 1 and 2 on 737-500). There is no problem with putting it in the bin lenghtwise in the cargo section on any CO Boeing plane. I have seen smaller bags that don't fit because the way the wheels stick out and prevent the bin lid from closing. Sometimes FA stuff a pillow or a blanket under the bag, so the wheels are higher and the bin can close. So it's not all about dimensions, but also the shape. Good luck with your shopping. It's great that you asked this question... ^
