I have heard that the gay area of Osaka is Doyama. Is this in downtown Osaka? Is there a couple of gay bars for young westerners you would recommend? Also, any point of interest I should definitely see?

Sorry, I can't tell you anything about specific bars but thought I would mention that the Hyatt also has a free shuttle bus to/from Osaka Station. That area, called Umeda, is not far from some bars. Neither the shuttle bus or the subway run too terribly late at night. I hope someone else has more detailed information for you.
