I've found that once through security, if you go to the BA info desk slap bang in the middle of the terminal (directly in front of security) and ask what gate the flight will be departing from, they tend to be able to tell you.
Last time I looked at that approach (T1 airside desk about a year ago), there was a sign up saying something to the effect of "Your gate will be displayed about half an hour before departure. In the meantime please don't ask us". So I don't ask the desk.
It's just a minor peeve at T4, not the end of the world. I like to get through security quite early (hate the idea of being late for a flight) so I just have to guess whether to turn left or right. Or just choose the better lounge anyway, which is the gate 1 lounge.
