I'm with Smashmouth on this one, I'm afraid. It's always tricky to claim extra points for an onboard upgrade as it is outwith the ticketing system, but as you were already flying on an award flight you would be subject to the Ts & Cs of the original ticket.

Out of curiosity, how much did it cost to upgrade?
