Can you imagine--paying $100,000 + for a degree at ERAU or the likes and it qualifies you for a job that also qualifies you for food stamps?
So why pay $100,000+ for a degree at ERAU or the likes when it only qualifies you for a job that also qualifies you for food stamps?
FWIW, the ratings and flight time (sans college degree) necessary for employment at the regionals will cost about $30k-$40k. Sinking $100k into a niche degree is rather foolish, IMHO. After sinking $20k into my flight training, I decided it wasn't worth it to pursue the career, and continued to finish my BS at a non aviation related university. The only reason that unionized and nonunionized airlines pay their first year (and then some) employees crap is that they know people will work for it. Personally, I won't and have no sympathy for those that do. If you put your mind to it, you can get the same job at the same airline as the ERAU guy for about half the cost of ERAU if you pick your colleges properly.
