There is (generally)no sales tax in PR. This does not mean there are not taxes of an excise nature for alcohol sold for consumption within the United States. In states with a sales tax, there is not only the sales tax, but alcohol excise taxes. And so, the "duty free" isn't sales tax free, it is also excise tax free.
