I think it is more a case the aircraft are too expensive to be sitting at gates all day. They are only earning money when they are in the air.

However it does make you think when you sit on a 747-400 for 10 hours and get off the thing, with everything 'very lived in' for 10 hours plus, they don't get much 'breathing' space in the cabin before the next bunch sit in it for 10 hours!!!!
