Do any of you do this? Is it pretty easy to set up?
Downloading the email probably won't be a problem - If you connect to the internet and download your mail it will download fine 90% of the time.
The problem comes when you *send* email. Many ISPs won't allow "relaying" - i.e. Earthlink will see you're trying to send email out through their sendmail server from a network that isn't theirs. They'll assume you're a spammer and block the sendmail. However, yahoo and hotmail may not have this restriction as they're not ISPs in that sense.
But it's easy to test. Set it up on your laptop and then go to a few internet cafes and see what happens. If you can send / receive you should be fine.
