I do not see how we could elaborate on Delta's own pronouncements -- very few of us travel with pets (our own five cats stay home on our travels)-- but you're right, maybe somebody might have had some experience.

I don't think bragging on your plutonium existence at AA is helpful here, though, hint, hint, even though we're pretty easy-going folks.

Driving may be the best bet.
