Don't know if this counts as turbulence, but on a flight a number of years ago from either DTW-PHL or DTW-BOS (I believe, not sure), our NWA flight sucked a bird into the engine shortly after takeoff.

The plane fell a few hundred feet, and the cabin went dark and filled with smoke.

Needless to say, my secretary, another employee, and I all thought we were going to die.
