I can understand the premium needed for the transaction as the payment for each passenger appears as a separate amount for each ticket. However why have to make 3 separate transactions for each passenger?
For some reason, BA run a credit card payment through per ticket and therefore per passenger. I suppose they could say that they work on the basis of fully refundable tickets and as such, it would be easier to process the refund for one member of a group purchase cancelling; i.e. fully refund on one ticket as opposed to part refund on a group ticket.
Having said that, I am sure it is an excuse that does not live up to the real reason for this silly practice.
