Well, as written I have good and worse stays at this hotels. I could partly understand kwpinwdc but not in all points. Perhaps it was not his and the hotels best day ..

My first stay was years ago as this was the Park Plaza Hotel (or similar).

I stayed there again as Ambassador in January 2005. I do not want to report again, as I have written a trip report about this stay. I stayed there again in September and this time it was a very pleasant stay. Both reports are on flyertalk.

I stayed there again in November with two friends. I have had requested a room for three persons and they told me they have a room with a connection door, but this was only a standardroom. The connection room had a toilet and a wash basin but no shower / bath. The standardroom is tiny, yes, and you could hardly walk round the bed, the television was wall mounted and the workings desk was very small. I have not taken pictures of this room as my friends had put al their things in the room.. I had hoped for an upgrade to a Suite, but well it does not happened and I do not complain about it. At least everybody had a real bed instead of a rollaway.
Some members of front Staff were nice and friendly and some were not. I requested a Swiss friend to send me things in the hotel to save fees for post and to get it right when I need it. I asked several times and it seems concierge and front staff get a little bit annoyed as I asked several times during the day. Not package. Returning back, it worked out hotel told post service I am not a guest in this hotel and send packet back and this at the day I checked in and I had told them there will be a packet in advance and even asked.

They apologised by calling me back and offered some compensation during my next stay (I have not been to Zurich again since this incident). It is annoying to me and to the hotel, but honestly this had happened in the past also with the Marriott in Vienna and had worked with several other hotel quite well.

The level in this hotel is not always the same. You can see on my homepage the interior of the bath varies from room to room and though does the interior of the room I was told.

The gym is nice, but it is outsourced so you cannot complain about it, as this is not an fault of the hotel. Pool was renovated in Spring 2005 and it is nice. The Equipment of the Gym could be more modern, but let me tell you, that this of the Millenium Hilton in New York or the Intercontinental in Frankfurt was not in a better condition. The Gym is large and you find nearly at every time of the day a treadmill etc. you could use. And in addition it is one of the few gyms I know where you can exercise in fresh air (in an atrium part)

I will stay there again, I know they have not always the same level, but depending on the room rate you get a good value for money And btw Zurich is not that big, you are in the city in less than 10 minutes by tram and Hyatt and Sheraton are more expensive and the reports of the Marriott are also not that good. Hilton is far away so is the Renaissance.

To me, this is a good location as you either have good connection to the city, the motorway and the train to either main station or airport.
