Yup, transfers attract a lower charge than terminal passengers at ZRH, but still a high charge relative to many other hubs - AMS was around EUR7 last time I looked, MAD even less.
The other, aircraft-related charges (landing etc) are also high at ZRH. Coupled with operational complications, ZRH is probably not an airport a rational airline would select as a hub/base. I guess LX didn't have much choice - U2 did.
An intersting, errrrr, unique feature to ZRH in international comparisons was a NOISE charge paid by passengers. It's usually paid only as an aircraft-related landing charge. ZRH gets both.
Didn't I read somewherethat the odious practice of adding a barrow-load of taxes and surcharges onto the quoted fare is to be outlawed in CH ?
