As you might remember, we discussed why SAS closed the lounge at OSL a couple of years ago. We even asked CR why. They answered:

Varför finns det ingen lounge på Norskt inrikes?

Svar fra SAS: "Det finns inga planer på att öppna en inrikes lounge i Oslo. Beslutet hänger samman med norska myndigheternas förbud mot bonusintjäning och kostnadsreduktioner.

Translates to: Why isn't there a lounge at OSL for Norwegian domestic travelers?

Answer: "There are no plans to open a domestic lounge at OSL. The decision to close it was because of the Norwegian authority’s ban of points in Norway and cost reductions."


I was looking through some old SAS correspondence and found an interesting e-mail:

Innenriksloungen på Oslo Lufthavn Gardermoen stenges 26. oktober:

26. oktober stenges innenriksloungen på Gardermoen. For å gjennomføre vårt nye pris- og produktkonsept, som tilbyr 20 % lavere priser for forretningsreisende, enkle og mer effektive reiseløsninger, gjør vi noen justeringer i produkttilbudet og lounge er ikke en del av det nye produktkonseptet innenlands.

Også innenriksloungen på Stockholm Arlanda Terminal 4 avvikles fra 26. oktober.

Translates to:
"The domestic lounge at OSL closes Oct. 26th

The domestic lounge at OSL closes Oct. 26th. To execute our new price and product concept which gives 20% lower prices for business travelers, simple and more efficient travel solutions, we are now adjusting the products offered and lounges are not the part of the domestic concept.

The domestic lounge at ARN will also be closed the same date, Oct. 26th

Welcome on board! "

This makes no sense! What actually happened was that the Swedes were whining more than us Norwegians so they got the lounge back.

And the prices in Norway are more expensive than in Sweden, so no logic to be found in that explanation.

My new quest is to get a domestic lounge back to OSL!
