sorry, but what Bukhara posted was in fact correct.

When you book directly with a carrier, obviously as long as you provide contact details, you will be notified of any changes/cancellations on your itinerary.

If you book through an agent, the airline cannot do this - in the case of BA, a message is sent to the booking agent so they can advise the passenger of their options... If the agent then fails to pass that information on to the passenger, then it is the agent who is at fault - and working for BA and having to deal with Expedia Leisure/Corporate travel on a daily basis, it doesn't surprise me in the slightest that 1) they didn't tell the passenger about the flight cancellation and 2) they are trying to fob the passenger back to AA and BA - they are the Ryanair of travel agents.
