But, as I mentioned, BA Tariffs do form a part the contract, and the wording used there will mention re-routing on OAs.

Having said that, how many PAX ever read an airline Tariff? Not many... And that's what airlines (BA is not the only carrier that does this) count on when they publish CoCs that do not fully disclose all available options. Not very ethical, but it does serve as a cost-saving measure...
