Given that the IRS will deny the dependent deduction if the SSN of the claimied dependent is not on your 1040, I'm curious as to why you don't have a SSN for your infant.
There are some plausible reasons why it wouldn't matter, but the dependent deduction and child tax credit are usually motivation enough to obtain a SSN before April 15 of the year following a birth or adoption.
