The problem seems to be fixed - I can now get back in to AE.com and use the "backdoor" method to get to AC.com. I still can't get in via direct login to AC.com - when I called a few days ago they said they were "aware" of the AC.com login problem but no indication of when it would be fixed and of course no they would not notify me when the had fixed it.
