I used to do the one-way first and last flights all the time too. With DL's simplifares (and other majors' matching), the weekend fares tend not to be significantly different anymore. I used to love being able to occasionally fly somewhere-cheaper-than-home for weekends (i guess this was against policy, but my expenses were never rejected). Of course, I was single and childless then. Now, there is nowhere I would rather go than home to see my wife & daughter.
