For Delta's sake, I sure hope you are wrong.

It's one thing for Journey Control to apply to paid fare classes in order to manage seat inventory/revenue between city pairs, but quite another for it to ever apply to upgrades....which are supposed to be based on a person's elite status and perhaps even their fare class.......but NOT a person's routing.

IOWs, there's no way in hell that a FO not on a full Y fare, that is travelling on a simple YYY-ZZZ itinerary should ever be cleared when their upgrade window opens...when there are any PMs or GMs on a XXX-YYY-ZZZ connecting itinerary that are booked on the same YYY-ZZZ flight who have not been cleared.

Yet that's apparently what could actually start to happen on a regular basis.....based on what you posted regarding upgrade availability on PDX-ATL-MCO.....and already has happened at least once....if not more.

If this were to ever happen on a regular basis as a matter of policy, then PM status will have become meaningless and so does the last reason for any PM that has to connect on a regular basis to remain loyal to Delta.

Do you really think that many current GMs/PMs will remain loyal to Delta if an FO on a T class fare ever gets upgraded before them solely because the FO is on a non-stop flight while the PM/GM is connecting?
