The Rival at Mariatorget on Sodermalm in Stockholm is somewhat unique. Believe owned by Bjorn and Benny of ABBA fame.

The Berns hotel and the Diplomat are nice. Avoid the RadissonSAS Strand Hotel if you like full service.
The Nordic Sea Hotel is very central and has the Ice bar in lobby.

In CPH I like the Square hotel for location and value for a simple design hotel, but highly recomend a corner room at the RadissonSAS Royal, a unique design hotel but not to everyones taste.
The First Hotels are good. The First Vasterbro offers is nice and modern but small rooms for the most part. The First Skt Petri is very popular now but highly overrated by my standards.
