Why is it that airports ask people to take belts off anyway? I asked security in Manila about this and they told me that the buckle could be sharpened and turned into a weapon

However, when it went through the X-ray, they weren't looking closely at the buckle and they gave the belt back to me without looking at the buckle so even if I had a super-sharp-Ninja belt, they wouldn't have noticed it. My watch usually contains as much metal as my belt but they don't require me to take that off.
