I don't know - how can one resign from a seat on one of the United States Court of Appeals? A high school classmate is a judge for one of the circuits, and he said it is one of the most intellectually satisfying, challenging careers he could imagine. This position also features a nice little perk, lifetime tenure without a reduction in salary.
