Close. The term "flag officer" is a generic category which includes everyone above the rank of colonel (Air Force & Land Force Commands) or captain (Maritime Force Command). General and Admiral designate specific ranks, except the first Martime Force flag rank (Commodore). Canadian flag officers are not referred to as "one-star," "two-star," etc., since its rank insignia use a crown over a crossed sword and baton with one to four maple leaves rather than stars. The CDS (Chief of Defense Staff) is the only officer with four maple leaves (not flags).
