Well, I went along to the LHW reception at the Dorchester last night. It was surprisingly impressive. The champagne kept on flowing, and the canapes they were serving were - generally - good, especially the small cups of hot crab soup!

There even a few second-rate celebrities knocking about - there were about 10 photographers there taking photos of various people as they arrived against an 'LHR' backdrop.

There were about 70 hotels exhibiting, most of whom seemed to have sent people who actually work for them rather than just a PR person from London. I also had good chats with the Leaders Club rep who was there (let him know what I felt about the various losses to the scheme, especially Peninsula) and the Amex FHR team. I've no idea why the latter was invited, since FHR is now a fine competitor to LHW, and arguably has a superior offering.

Anyway, a good time seemed to be being had by all. If you get an invite to an LHW reception in the future, I recommend taking it up.
