I guess the main issue for US carriers was their shaky financial situation. The A380 is expensive, and a pretty big (no pun intended) bet.
I grabbed Larry Kellner at this past weekend's CO DO and specifically asked him his opinion of the A380. His answer was "I can think of better ways to spend $ 15 Billion. You can make money with it on the weekend, but what do you do with it during the week?"
