I agree that it was strange, but EK insists that more people prefer to sleep and then eat right before landing. I have found this especially annoying on EK7 (the 3:05am flight leaving DXB for LHR, because for 6 hours you basically get no food! ) They did bring some snacks in the end because I was very hungry
