The W Hotel is the only one I can think of off the top of my head that's within walking distance to UCLA. Probably not the bargain you're looking for, though. Beverly Hills would be a reasonably quick cab ride down Wilshire or Sunset to UCLA, allow yourself maybe 15 minutes for total travel time? If you really wanted to cheap it, I'm sure there are bus lines headed in the right direction.
