If you go to Confins/Presidente Neves Airport in Belo Horizonte you can still find lots of AA logos around, reminding passengers of the airport's glory days (the government built the airport in the middle of nowhere and not even the Brazilian airlines moved many flights to it). The last time I was there (April 2005), some of the ropes at the Varig check-in stands even said American on them.
