I have been to Seattle twice in the last 8 months. The first time I stayed at the DT in Bellvue, and the second I decided to stay at the more pricey Hilton downtown.

The DT in bellvue is definitely the better choice. They are very prone to the upgrades. In fact, they upgraded me to the Presidential suite. I happened to have my wife with me on the business trip, and it was great.

The second time I stayed at the Hilton downtown. Other than being about $50 more per night, the rooms are much smaller, the executive floor is also small, and it seems that they were not prone to upgrades.

In a nutshell, although Bellvue is about 10 minutes from downtown, the larger rooms and / or probable upgrade is worth the short trip. However, check with the DT as to when their current renovation will be done.
