So it is not that EK forbids people in Y to recline their seats, it is more to do with meal service and reclining seats.

As mentioned, this is a very normal "procedure" on a lot of airlines. They are simply asking you to be considerate of those passengers behind you. Try it yourself next time you are in Y. When that seat in front of you is reclined, and you are bending over to grab a bite, your head almost ends up bumping into the headrest of that seat in front before you can get your hand up to your mouth!!!

And sadiqhassan, glad you reduced the font on the "Fly Emirates" advertisement (you must work for them)... I was slowly being blinded by that BOLD RED FONT of yours...
