Compensation for long-haul seat break down

One of my hotel guests had seat in J break down on the way to BKK and TG is refusing or has not offered any compensation. Does someone have experience with such matter? What is usual. The seat was broke down completely, could not recline or rise leg rest, and no other seat was available. We have contacted our TG rep for the hotel but they were unhelpful as always.
