"Upper" level

Due to catenary, NEC trains like Acela do not have an upper level, while many western trains do have 2 levels.

In some countries, though, trains will have an upper level even with single level equipment. For example, in Bangladesh, riding on the roof of the car is a more economical way of traveling than riding inside the car itself.
