BigFlyer - of course you are not wrong. In the UK there is legislation - not always strictly adhered to or enforced

- that does not allow advertising of fares without indication of the taxes and surcharges, but I guess that does not apply to BA in all overseas markets. That might be a reason why they do it; they also get to shaft those booking redemption flights, where 'free' now means 'plus taxes and charges and whatever we care to allocate to you from core costs'.
What *really* irritates me is the claim that they do this in order to have 'transparency' in pricing - i.e., their fuel and security and whatever surcharges reflect real costs. No they don't. Transparency would be if they only added as surcharges those costs directly attributable to each pax - e.g. tax and airport charges. Er, like other airlines then
