AIR RESTRICTIONS ANNOUNCED
FOR SUPER BOWL SUNDAY
OTTAWA — Transport Canada today announced airspace restrictions that will be in effect around the City of Windsor on February 5, 2006. These restrictions will affect aircraft movement in Southwestern Ontario, particularly in and around the Windsor Airport, from 4:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
Travellers using the airport on this day are urged to check with their air carriers for more information about possible delays.
These airspace restrictions are part of the safety and security requirements for the Super Bowl and are described to pilots in a Notice to Airmen that was issued earlier today by NAV CANADA.
Special arrangements have been made for humanitarian and other safety-related flights to use the airspace as required. Transport Canada has informed air operators of these airspace restrictions in an effort to minimize the impact of the restrictions on the travelling public. General aviation operations such as flight training schools and charter aircraft will be affected during the restrictions.

SUR LE TRANSPORT AÉRIEN SERONT
EN VIGUEUR EN RAISON DU SUPER BOWL
OTTAWA — Transports Canada a annoncé aujourd’hui que des restrictions s’appliqueraient à l’espace aérien de la ville de Windsor le 5 février 2006. Ces restrictions s’appliqueront aux mouvements d’aéronefs dans la région du sud-ouest de l’Ontario, particulièrement à l’aéroport de Windsor et ses environs, de 16 h à 23 h 59.
Les personnes qui prévoient utiliser cet aéroport ce jour-là sont priées de communiquer avec leur transporteur aérien pour obtenir plus de renseignements sur les retards possibles.
Ces restrictions de l’espace aérien sont nécessaires en vue d’assurer la sécurité et la sûreté durant le Super Bowl. Un avis aux navigants, qui contient les détails de ces restrictions, a été publié plus tôt aujourd’hui à l’intention des pilotes par NAV CANADA.
Des dispositions spéciales ont été prises pour autoriser, au besoin, les vols à caractère humanitaire ainsi que les vols liés à la sécurité. Transports Canada a informé les exploitants aériens de ces restrictions afin d’en limiter les conséquences sur le public voyageur. L’aviation générale ― par exemple les écoles de pilotage et les vols nolisés ― sera touchée par ces restrictions.
