Aside from offering excellent service, the CDG-based crews actually spoke French, which must have been nice for the french passengers. For a while my CDG-bound pursers had a strange habit of having the french FA's deliver announcements in English and the americans in French. Maybe to give them practice, but they really butchered la belle langue. Hopefully they've improved since then....
The French native speaker FAs on UA is a definite advantage. Too many times I've flown American-carriers --like CO and NWA-- and the French spoken on the announcements was really, really bad--almost an embarrassment.
