I have just made Elite (*G) on Aeroplan in the last two years flying from Dunedin by maximising segments. I fly DUD-WLG about once a month and by flying DUD-CHC-WLG-CHC-DUD I get 4 segments a trip rather than 2 if flying DUD-WLG direct. All you need is 50 segments for Elite.

Does seem a bit strange to have such status on an airline I have never flown, but I guess that is the way the system works.
