I used SkypeOut most of last summer with very good results, even with a lousy DSL connection. I don't see any reason to switch to the monthly fee guys like Vonage, at this point, if you're planning on using the software, not hardware, phone.

Of course, even Skype is getting into the hardware phone game these days, further reducing Vonage's edge.
