My only comment about this property is that it is, indeed, quirky. It's unlike most any other Sheraton left these days and comes from an earlier era. 20 years ago, there were many more like it under national branding, these days it's a rare breed.
I have considerable difficulty deciding if I like this hotel or not. It has some definite plusses (location is ideal) and some real drawbacks (odd rooms, confining infrastructure). I guess I'm more a fan of modern than I realized. With the Westin Copley across the Chuck River, I'm much happier.
All that said, if one has a reason to simply be in Cambridge, the Sheraton Commander will do just fine.
