I have walked along the main drag in front of Roppongi Hills and the Heartland Brewery and then turned left at the appropriate place to continue on to Ebisu. It's a pleasant walk even on the main streets and there were some fun (i.e., weird looking) buildings to look at. I was walking rather late at night when most stuff was closed, it would certainly be better to wander during the day as mjm suggests.
