From what I've heard, we should be glad it isn't.

Seriously though, I think the mainland Chinese airlines will be joining alliances pretty soon. China Southern, for example, has already signed an agreement with SkyTeam. China Eastern is pretty well-positioned to become a part of OW, so I don't think there will be as much of a "fight" for it, so to speak, as there will be with Air China.

Then again, the wild card in this whole equation is Cathay Pacific's 8% (I think) stake in Air China.

Give OW some time to digest Royal Jordanian, Malev, and JAL, and in a few months we may see some action in India and China.
