Max never made any money operating the airline. He made money with the timely buying and selling of airplanes he never owned, and by suckering Rhys into buying him when he was weeks away from bankruptcy.
Review the history of the airline. WJ has been a sched carrier for about 8 years longer than Wardair was ever a sched carrier.
