Actually my flight from ATL-SRQ Sunday was delayed because of the new fortification on teh MD-80. Some bracket broke, that holds the transponder in place (apparently a transponder that is thrown outside the plane in case of a water ditching, theoretically). When they fixed teh bracket, the new part impeded the closure of the new bar that fortifies teh door, so they had to come up with a solution to that problem. All in all not too bad, a 45 minute delay, but they apparently have been working on this, at least.
