In a very non-FF like way, I just came across an AMEX Companion Certificate in my desk which has obviously been there for quite some time.

It expires on Feb 1, 2006.

A couple of years ago, I had some other type of cert, I think it was one of those free NA ones that AC offered as a threshold bonus, and good folks here gave me away to actually get it extended.

Something along the lines of booking the flight, then cancelling the booking, but with the credit still available for the following 12 months.

Has anybody had similar luck with one of these certs? I'm assuming not, as it says "All travel must be completed by 23:59 on the date of expiration printed on the Companion Certificate," but it's worth a try.
