I don't know if there are too many airlines in India now or not -- although the infrastructure is not growing nicely fast enough and I have concerns about the financial arrangement/planning with such a large number of plane purchases and lease arrangements. However, just several weeks ago I could not get a flight for a few days on a route I needed -- a route served by at least 5 airlines now -- and going by road travel was not practical/advisable.
