If you donīt have an onward boarding pass, I guess you will have to go landside and take the HEX to T4 (yes, free between terminals at LHR).
But if you have the onward boarding pass , by all means use one of the airside shuttle busses to T4. On arrival follow the signs for "Flightconnections" .It might be a longish walk through the corridors , but just hang in there - and then board one of the frequent airside shuttle busses to T4. The bus ride itself is a little less than 10 mins. At one point you will be going through extra security , but if you get real lucky and the lines arenīt too long the transfer from T3 to T4 can be done in less than 30 mins. And staying airside at LHR you wonīt be going through immigration and passportcontrol until arrival at AMS.
