A relative bought a YEG-HKG return ticket at a travel agency during the seat sale that just ended on Jan 18. Depart February and return August. The eticket is a V class, vsoar6 fare. The rule for change fee on return is $100. But there are conflicting messages on whether that same V class bucket of fare has to be available in order to change the return date. If V class is not available then an upgrade to H class would be required that could mean an extra $400-600. Should he be concerned about not having V class inventory around July when he will likely make that change?
Normally he buys the $1500 fare which has no change fee and no upgrade fee but this sale was too hard to resist. Any insight would be great.
