Just call AA and if it doesn't matter to you which airline your daughter ends up on, make sure the agent checks availability on AA (via Tokyo), JAL (via Tokyo), and Cathay. They would probably do this anyway but I find that sometimes I have to walk them through all the options. Beyond that, if you're putting her in business, I know if I was her I'd prefer to be on JAL or Cathay.
